The Ministry of Education has confirmed that the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) results will be released tomorrow, Friday, September 4.
The announcement follows a delay in the release of the placement results after thousands of candidates encountered difficulties uploading their data onto the CSSPS platform.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Thursday, September 3, Press Secretary and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Hashmin Mohammed, said the placement process had been completed and the Ministry was ready to publish the results.
“We are set to release the placement results tomorrow [Friday],” he said.
Mr Mohammed explained that the Ministry had initially planned to release the placements last week but was compelled to extend the deadline after discovering that about 20,000 candidates had been unable to upload their information.
He said the extension was necessary to ensure fairness and give all qualified candidates an opportunity to secure placement in a second-cycle institution.
“When we thought we could release it as of last week, unfortunately, we had some students who were unable to load their data into the CSSPS system. And then, looking at the number, the number was huge,” he explained.
According to him, about 18,000 of the affected candidates have since successfully uploaded their data following the extension.
“As I am speaking to you now, we’ve had about 18,000 who have inputted their data into the system,” he disclosed.
He said the remaining approximately 2,000 candidates are from special needs schools and are being handled through a separate placement process.
“The remaining 2,000, we know where they are. They are the special needs schools. And special needs schools, they don’t need to go through the choice confirmation,” he explained.
Mr Mohammed said the schools concerned would provide the Ministry with the relevant lists, allowing the candidates to be manually placed because their institutions have already been determined.
“Their schools only give us the list, and then we place them manually into the system because their schools are already defined,” he said.
He stressed that the extension was guided by the Ministry’s commitment to equity, noting that every qualified candidate should have the opportunity to be placed.
“If we are operating on an equity-based system, we needed to offer them the opportunity to extend the date so that they would be able to upload their data into the system for them to be placed into a school,” he said.
The Ministry is therefore expected to officially release the 2026 CSSPS placement results on Friday, September 4.
