The Circuit Court in Lawra has sentenced Kwame Ti-Zaaelcuu, aged 47, to 20 years in prison for incest after finding him guilty of sexually abusing his 17-year-old biological daughter over an extended period.
He was also given a concurrent 10-year sentence for threatening the survivor’s life, both to be served with hard labor.
The case came to light following a complaint to the Lawra District Police Command, which conducted investigations that confirmed the offences. The Upper West Regional Police Command reported that the convict, whose daughter is a Junior High School student, threatened to kill her if she revealed the abuse.
Presiding Judge Stanley Adjei delivered the verdict on Friday, July 24, 2026, after a full trial.
Beyond imprisonment, the court instructed the Lawra Department of Social Welfare to provide counselling and psychosocial support to the survivor.
The Upper West Regional Police Command praised the professionalism and dedication of the investigators and prosecutor in securing the conviction. They also urged the public to report all sexual and domestic abuse promptly to ensure justice for survivors and accountability for offenders.
