The Bimbilla Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mbow Mohammed, has officially resigned from his position, effective Monday, May 18, 2026.
In a resignation letter addressed to the Northern Regional Chairman of the party, Mr. Mohammed said his decision came after careful reflection following decades of active service to the NPP since 1992.
According to him, he has over the years contributed immensely to the growth and strengthening of the party through financial support, physical commitment, and personal sacrifice.
“Since becoming a member in good standing of the party in 1992, I have dedicated my time, energy, and resources to the growth and strengthening of the party at all levels,” portions of the letter stated.
Mr. Mohammed described his tenure as Constituency Chairman as a privilege, noting that he worked closely with party executives, members, and supporters to advance the interests of the NPP in the Bimbilla Constituency.
He explained that his resignation should not be misconstrued as a departure from the party, but rather a decision to step away from active leadership responsibilities in order to regain personal peace and strength.
“After careful reflection and consideration, I believe this is the appropriate time for me to take a back seat from active leadership responsibilities,” he noted.
The outgoing chairman reaffirmed his loyalty to the NPP and pledged his continued support towards the party’s activities ahead of the 2028 general elections and beyond.
“I wish to state clearly that my resignation from office does not in any way mean resignation from the party. I remain a loyal and committed member,” he added.
Mr. Mohammed also expressed appreciation to party executives at the constituency, regional, and national levels for the support and cooperation he received during his time in office, while wishing the party success in its future endeavours.
