Obuasi SHTS Shut Indefinitely After Students Attack Headmaster

The Obuasi Municipal Assembly has ordered the indefinite closure of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) after the school’s headmaster was allegedly attacked by a mob of students during violent disturbances on campus.

The unrest reportedly erupted after some students accused the headmaster of burying a fetus in a nearby bush. They further alleged the fetus was linked to an abortion involving a student, claims that have not been officially confirmed by authorities.

The situation quickly escalated, forcing security personnel to intervene to restore order and protect lives and property.

Police have arrested six students in connection with the alleged assault on the headmaster. The suspects are assisting with ongoing investigations.

During the chaos, students reportedly vandalised three staff bungalows, damaged vehicles and destroyed other property.

The Municipal Assembly said the decision to close the school indefinitely is a precautionary measure to safeguard students, teaching and non-teaching staff, and to prevent further violence.

The headmaster is reported to have received treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital following the attack. His current condition has not been officially disclosed.
