A tragic incident at Mahean-Ablekuma, a suburb of Accra, has claimed the lives of three people, including 19-year-old Senior High School graduate Florence Naa Kwarley.
The victims were found dead in a room where they had been sleeping, in what is suspected to be a case of carbon monoxide poisoning linked to generator fumes.
The deceased were discovered in a room belonging to Jonas Ofosu Yeboah, a carpenter who also lost his life in the incident.
According to reports, Mr Ofosu Yeboah had placed a generator in a locked corridor during a power outage on the night of the tragedy while the victims slept inside the room.
The bodies were discovered early Wednesday, May 6, in a hardened state, indicating they may have died several hours before they were found.
Speaking to AdomNews reporter Ohene Amponsah, Bernice Ofosu, sister of the late Jonas Ofosu Yeboah, described the incident as devastating.
“It is heartbreaking. My brother was always careful, but that night he placed the generator in the corridor because of the power outage. We never imagined it would end like this,” she said.
The Amasaman Divisional Police Command has confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
