Four persons, including a pregnant woman and her daughter, have lost their lives in a devastating road accident at Kinkinlin near Makango in the East Gonja Municipality of the Savannah Region.
The fatal crash occurred at about 5:00 a.m. on Thursday while a group of women and young girls were heading to their farms to gather shea nuts.
Eyewitnesses say a Sinotruk HOWO tipper truck bearing registration number GB-2359-20 reportedly veered off its lane, crossed onto the opposite side of the road, and rammed into the victims from behind before overturning.
Five people were struck in the incident. Four were pronounced dead at the scene, while the lone survivor sustained severe injuries and was initially taken to the Salaga Government Hospital before being referred to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for advanced medical care.
The deceased are said to include a pregnant woman and her daughter, as well as another woman and her daughter, leaving the Kinkinlin community in deep grief following the tragedy.
