NPP Elections: Ken Agyapong No.1 on ballot, Bawumia at No.3

Ballot positions for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 presidential primaries have been determined, with Kennedy Agyapong coming first in the ballot paper. 

The balloting exercise, which took place on Friday, October 10, sets the stage for the party’s internal election to choose its next flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Announcing the outcome, the Director of Electoral Services of the Electoral Commission, Dr. Benjamin Bannor-Bio listed the positions as follows;

(1) Kennedy Ohene Agyapong – Businessman and former Member of Parliament for Assin Central

(2) Dr. Bryan Acheampong – Former Minister for Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Abetifi

(3) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia – Former Vice President of Ghana, who served from 2017 to 2025

(4) Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum – Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Bosomtwe

(5) Kwabena Agyei Agyepong – Former General Secretary of the NPP

The election to determine the next NPP flagbearer is scheduled to take place on January 31, 2026.
