Minister of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced that MultiChoice Ghana has finally agreed to reduce the DSTV subscription prices.
According to him, Multichoice must now work with stakeholders to determine the exact percentage of reduction, which must be agreed upon within the next 14 days.
Sam George had earlier issued a September 6 deadline after which they would suspend the company’s license if it failed to review its pricing for the DSTV subscriptions.

Speaking at the Digital Africa Summit in Accra on Friday, September 5, he said MultiChoice has reached out to the Ministry indicating their willingness to comply to address the pricing concerns.
Sam George explained that a stakeholder committee has been established which he will personally chair comprising of representatives from his ministry, the National Communication Authority (NCA), and MultiChoice Ghana and Africa.
“So let’s be clear, they have finally accepted that there will be a reduction, now they want us to discuss the level of reduction,” he stated.
He revealed that MultiChoice has requested a 30 day window for the committee to arrive at the percentage by which their prices will be reduced.
He however said that he believes as minister that they do not need 30 days and 14 days is enough to reach a decision, giving them up to the 21st of September, 2025.
“Therefore, the committee has a strict 14 day mandate, inclusive of weekends to conclude its work and present a suitable price reduction structure for the people of Ghana,” Sam George said.
