Ghanaians call for the sacking of Coach Otto Addo

Ghanaians on social media are voicing strong frustration with Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following what many described as a disappointing performance in Ghana’s latest World Cup qualifier.

On Thursday, September 5, 2025, the Black Stars were held to a 1-1 draw against Chad in their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign. The result shocked many fans, who expected a comfortable win given Chad’s lower ranking in African football.

Coach Addo admitted after the match that Ghana’s performance fell short and blamed the dry pitch for hindering the team’s performance.

“I think it’s very difficult to play on this terrain when it is not watered. We can’t play fast. So, it’s a disadvantage for us when the pitch is not watered. The boys play fast in Europe, they have wet pitch, but the pitch was very slow for us,” he expressed.

The result of yesterday’s game has placed Otto Addo’s coaching under scrutiny by Ghanaians with many people taking to social media to demand his dismissal.
