The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is investigating a complex international trail involving a Lamborghini Urus currently linked to dancehall artiste Shatta Wale, with investigators alleging connections to a deadly carjacking in the United States, a convicted fraudster, and former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General, Kwabena Adu-Boahene.
According to thenewrepublicgh.com, information emerging from the ongoing investigations, the luxury SUV was allegedly stolen during a violent carjacking in the United States that reportedly claimed the life of its owner before being transported to Canada and subsequently shipped to Ghana.
Investigators say the vehicle was first acquired by Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian national convicted in 2023 in connection with a US$4.6 million fraud scheme in Lexington, Kentucky. Customs records reportedly linked to the Lamborghini are said to bear Amuah’s name.
The vehicle is also alleged to have come into the possession of former NSB boss Kwabena Adu-Boahene after it arrived in Ghana. EOCO investigators are reportedly examining claims that the SUV, originally matte grey, was later repainted yellow and assigned new registration plates.
Authorities further allege that the Lamborghini was subsequently presented as part of a sponsorship package for an entertainment awards event, where Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, was announced as a recipient.
Sources familiar with the investigation indicate that following assistance requested by US authorities, EOCO traced the vehicle to Shatta Wale’s residence in Trassaco Valley. During interactions with investigators, the musician is said to have offered differing accounts regarding how he came into possession of the vehicle.
While he initially indicated that the Lamborghini was received as an award, investigators claim he later stated that he purchased it for US$150,000 from an individual identified only as “ZAK.” EOCO is reportedly seeking documentation to substantiate the alleged transaction, including proof of ownership transfer and payment records.
Investigators have also indicated that no verifiable details have yet been provided regarding the identity or whereabouts of the purported seller.
The probe has further brought attention to individuals associated with the awards event, including businesswoman Rashida Saani, CEO of I-ZAR Group and founder of the “Alhaji’s Wife” waakye brand, who was also honoured at the ceremony.
EOCO’s investigation remains ongoing, with authorities examining the chain of custody of the vehicle and the circumstances under which it changed hands.
