The Court of Appeal has indefinitely adjourned proceedings in the case involving former Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) Chief Executive Officer Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu after a three-member panel failed to reach a unanimous decision on the State’s application for a stay of execution.
The panel, chaired by Justice Sophia Rosetta Bernasko-Essah and comprising Justice Dr Ernest Owusu-Dapaa and Justice Ayitey Armah-Tetteh, heard submissions from both the prosecution and defence before retiring to deliberate.
However, after nearly two hours behind closed doors, the judges returned to announce that they had been unable to arrive at a decision on the application.
No new date was provided, leaving the matter in limbo and raising fresh questions about the next steps in the high-profile corruption case.
The State is seeking a stay of execution pending the outcome of its substantive appeal, a move that forms part of the continuing legal battle surrounding the former MASLOC boss.
Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu was convicted in absentia by the Accra High Court in April 2024 and sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of multiple offences, including causing financial loss to the state, stealing, and money laundering.
Following an extended legal process in the United States, she was extradited to Ghana in June 2026 to commence her sentence, bringing renewed public attention to one of the country’s most closely watched corruption cases.
