Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, has reiterated the government’s commitment to securing justice for slain investigative journalist Ahmed Suale during a visit to his family at Wulensi in the Nanumba South District of the Northern Region.
The visit formed part of the Minister’s trip to the area, where he had earlier joined the NDC Constituency Chairman in Bimbilla to mourn the passing of his father.
Meeting with Ahmed Suale’s family, Haruna Iddrisu assured them that the government remains determined to pursue all avenues necessary to ensure that those responsible for the journalist’s murder are brought to justice.
Speaking to Ahmed Suale’s mother, Madam Yakubu Arahamatu, the Minister said the government would not relent in its efforts to uncover the circumstances surrounding the killing and hold the perpetrators accountable.
“God’s justice is worth the wait, and government’s pursuit of justice in this matter is worth pursuing. We will continue to pursue it, we will unravel it, and we pray that God will support us to do so. There are some who think they can run away from justice, but though the wheels of justice may turn tortuously they will ultimately reach their destination and serve the ends of justice,” he stated.
Haruna Iddrisu further encouraged the family to remain hopeful, stressing that justice would eventually prevail despite the passage of time.
As part of his support to the family, the Minister also assured Ahmed Suale’s sister that she would be considered under the Ghana Education Service teacher recruitment process, a move aimed at helping her continue to support the family.
Ahmed Suale, an investigative journalist, was shot dead in January 2019, a case that continues to attract national and international attention as calls for justice persist.
