The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has confirmed that its National Treasurer Dr. Charles Dwamena also known as Dr. China is safe following a road accident involving his convoy in the Northern Region.
In a press release dated April 24, 2026, the Office of the National Treasurer disclosed that the incident occurred near Buipe Township while the Treasurer was traveling from Tamale to Kintampo as part of an official working visit.
According to the statement, the National Treasurer and members of his team escaped unharmed. However, the driver of another vehicle involved in the collision sustained injuries and was promptly rushed to the Central Gonja Government Hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
“In view of this, the ongoing working visit of the National Treasurer will be suspended until further notice,” the statement said.
The Office further reassured party members and the general public that the Treasurer is in good condition and that there is no cause for alarm.
The NPP expressed gratitude for the concern shown by the public and emphasized its commitment to keeping citizens informed as necessary.
