Education Minister Sets Up Committee to Probe UTAG Allegations

The Ministry of Education has announced the establishment of a three-member committee to investigate concerns raised by the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UTAG) following its recent press conference.

In an official statement, the Ministry acknowledged the issues raised by the association and reaffirmed its commitment to addressing them through a structured and transparent process.

According to the statement, the committee has been tasked with probing UTAG’s allegations and related matters, and subsequently making appropriate recommendations to President John Dramani Mahama.

The committee will be chaired by Deputy Minister for Education, Clement Apaak. Other members include Professor K.T. Oduro, Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Education, and Professor Mahama Duweijua, Board Chairman of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission.

The Ministry has called on all relevant stakeholders to cooperate fully with the committee as it undertakes its mandate, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in resolving the issues at hand.

“We remain committed to constructive dialogue and to resolving all outstanding issues in the best interest of tertiary education in Ghana,” the statement noted.

The statement was signed by Hashmin Mohammed, Press Secretary to the Minister for Education.
