The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe, has shared memories of some of the victims who died in last week’s tragic military helicopter crash.
According to him, the late Dr. Omane Boamah was exceptionally cautious and intelligent.
Speaking on Tv3’s New Day he described his relationship, stating “I’ve never seen a man so cautious as Dr. Omane Boamah. Beyond his intellect. I call him a brainbox,” he said.
Godwin Edudzi recalled how they worked closely together during his time as Director of Legal when Dr. Boamah served as Director of Elections.
“Dr. Omane Boamah was the one I sent the judicial review process to when I prepared it. Because he was Director Elections and I was Director Legal, I was working so close with him” he shared.
He also spoke warmly of the late Dr. Sarpong, describing him as a comforter and a father figure to many.
Recounting the moment he learned of the crash, Godwin Edudzi Tamekloe said he was at an airport preparing to board a flight back to Accra.
“Now going to catch a flight back to Accra, at that point I was praying that I could walk. Why should i sit in an airplane at this point, knowing such a thing” said Godwin Edudzi.
He also expressed sympathy for Dr. Boamah’s family, especially his mother whom he affectionately called Auntie Leticia.
“To have the burden of burying your own son is a heavy, heavy burden,” he said
