The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 18 new cases of Mpox, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 346 as of August 7, 2025.
No new deaths have been recorded, and there are currently no patients in hospital care.
Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, is a viral disease that spreads through close physical contact, contaminated materials, or respiratory droplets.
It can cause a painful rash, enlarged lymph nodes and fever.
According to the World Health Organization, the WHO, if you have mpox you should tell anyone you have been close to recently, stay at home until all scabs fall off or a new layer of skin forms, wear a well-fitting mask when around other people and avoid physical contact.
The Ghana Health Service has urged the public to stay vigilant, avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms, and promptly report suspected cases to the nearest health facility.
