PTA to be reinstated in Pre-Tertiary Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary schools nationwide.

This follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama in an effort to boost stakeholder participation in the education sector.

In a statement released on Thursday, July 17, GES noted that the move seeks to enhance cooperation between parents, teachers, and communities to provide quality education to learners.

The directive requires all Heads of Public Senior High, Technical, and STEM schools to start implementing the reinstatement immediately.

“The move is aimed at strengthening the collaboration and involvement of parents, communities, and teachers in the delivery of quality education to Ghanaian learners.” The statement read.

Additional guidelines on PTA structure, roles, and financial accountability will be issued in the coming weeks to ensure transparency and efficiency in PTA operations. GES is calling on all stakeholders to support the policy for its successful implementation.
