Egypt eliminates Ghana on penalties from U-20 AFCON, World Cup dream over

The Black Satellites of Ghana have been eliminated from the ongoing U-20 African Cup of Nations by the Young Pharaohs of Egypt.

After 2-2 draw in 120 minutes, Egypt progressed to the semifinals of the competition after beating the Ghanaians on penalties.

Egypt converted all their five penalties but goalkeeper Ahmed Menshawi saved Dacosta Antwi’s kick to win the game for the host nation.

The game was decided on penalty after a 2-2 draw in regulation time despite the Egyptians taking a two goal lead within the first 30 minutes.

The Young Pharaohs of Egypt have now qualified for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Chile and will face Nigeria in the semifinals of the ongoing U-20 AFCON.
