The Deputy Majority Whip and MP for Ada, Comfort Doye Cudjoe-Ghanasah, has said that the 2025 budget will mark the beginning of the government’s promise to reset the country. This comes as the government is set to remove some levies.
According to her, all Ghanaians need is to be able to put food on their table, and she believes this is possible under the Mahama-led government. In an interview with journalists on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, she said the 2025 budget will be ‘muah.’
“The budget is going to be ‘muah’ because Ghanaians don’t want too much talking. We don’t want to hear inflation this, inflation that. All we want is to have peace, and we want things to be reduced so we can buy and have a stabilized economy. All we want is to be able to put food on our table. We don’t want to hear their big English, we want to see changes. We promised a reset, and the resetting is going to start today because a lot of levies will go off, which will reduce the cost of living and stabilize the cedi. That’s all we are looking for.”
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has presented the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament, marking the first comprehensive financial roadmap of the Mahama administration since assuming office. The highly anticipated budget outlines bold policy measures aimed at stabilizing the economy, fostering growth, and addressing the nation’s fiscal challenges. With the country still grappling with high debt levels, inflation, and unemployment, all eyes are on Dr. Forson to unveil strategies that will provide relief to businesses and households while setting the country on a path to recovery.
