Woman, 21, stabs husband over change of meal at Maamaso

A 21-year-old woman identified as Maafua has allegedly stabbed her husband, 29-year-old Kofi, during a heated argument over a change of meal at Maamaso near New Abirem in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.

According to a report by Crime Check TV, the misunderstanding began when Kofi returned home from work expecting to be served his favourite meal—banku and okro stew—but instead found that his wife had prepared banku and light soup.

Sources say Kofi confronted Maafua about the change, reminding her that he had given her money specifically for banku and okro stew. However, Maafua reportedly explained that the money provided was not sufficient for that meal and that she had decided to save part of it for later use.

The disagreement quickly escalated into a heated exchange and subsequently turned physical. During the altercation, Kofi is alleged to have picked up a knife, but Maafua managed to seize it from him and allegedly stabbed him.

Kofi’s brother, Francis, who was in another room at the time, is said to have rushed in after hearing the commotion. He reportedly found Kofi lying in a pool of blood and immediately rushed him to the New Abirem Government Hospital.

Kofi was later transferred to the Koforidua Government Hospital for further treatment.

Police are yet to comment on the incident as investigations continue.
