U-20 AFCON: Black Satellites coach Desmond Ofei praises players for qualifying to knockout stage

Black Satellite coach, Desmond Ofei has commended his players for winning their final group game against Central African Republic in the ongoing U-20 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.

Ghana on Thursday, May 8, 2025, defeated Central Africa Republic 1-0 in their final group game to qualify to the knockout stage as winners of Group C with 7 points after 3 games.

Ofei speaking at the post match interview said the game was very difficult but he is happy that his team managed to find a way to secure the maximum three points.

“We didn’t rush the game because that was very important for us to win. The boys controlled the game, worked the ball well and stayed patient even when the goal didn’t come despite their dominance on the pitch. I’m happy for them because they earned the victory,” Desmond Ofei said.

The Black Satellites qualify as leaders of their Group while Senegal picked up the second place spot in the group with 4 points after beating DR Congo 2-0 in their final group game.

DR Congo on the other hand will have to wait for a place in the third best placed teams after accumulating 4 points after 3 games.
