The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ablekuma North Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Akua Afriyie has insisted that she won the elections fair and square.
According to Akua Afriyie, she won the elections and is waiting on the Electoral Commission to proclaim her as the Member of Parliament elect in Ablekuma North.
Akua Afriyie who on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, joined Members of Parliament from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stage a protest, marching from Parliament House to the Ghana Police Service Headquarters in Accra said there will be no re-run in Ablekuma North.
“There will be no rerun, I won the election fair and square so the EC should do the needful,” Akua Afriyie told a Joy News reporter.
Ablekuma North was among a few constituencies whose results were not finalised after the last general election.
The Electoral Commission (EC) has cited a lack of adequate security as the main reason for the delay in concluding the collation, a claim that has frustrated opposition MPs.
