The petition against me has no basis – Abronye

Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has dismissed the petition filed against him by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.

According to Abronye, the petition is frivolous and has no basis.

This follows Justin Kodua formally petitioning the NPP’s National Disciplinary Committee on September 26, outlining several allegations against the Bono regional chairman.

The petition, which has been referred to the NPP’s National Disciplinary Committee, accuses Abronye of misconduct and requests sanctions against him.

Speaking to the Citi News on September 30, Abronye said he remains unperturbed by the development.

“I will say that the petition itself is frivolous. The petition has no basis,” he stated.

The regional chairman also stood firmly by his controversial comparison of Kennedy Agyapong to an elephant, which was cited in the petition as an act of defamation.

“The elephant in the forest is more intelligent than Kennedy Agyapong — and that is the fact. I am not running away from that,” he declared.

Abronye also dismissed claims that Agyapong is a leading member of the NPP.

“That is not true. He is not a leading member,” he said.

The petition filed by Justin Kodua on September 26 accuses Abronye of;

(1) Defaming Kennedy Agyapong with derogatory remarks.

(2) Making false claims that the General Secretary concealed a disciplinary report supposedly describing Ken Agyapong as a “destroyer” of the party.

(3) Misrepresenting the findings of a disciplinary committee report in breach of confidentiality.

The petition called for a full and impartial inquiry and appropriate sanctions.

However, Abronye maintains that  he has committed no offence and remains confident that the case against him will not stand.
