The first reshuffling of minsters must happen - Minority Chief Whip

Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has called for the first ministerial reshuffle of President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.

His call, according to him, is motivated by the inability of Parliament to effectively conduct public business due to the failure of certain ministers to appear before the House to answer questions related to their respective sectors.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the Minority Chief Whip said some ministers are consistently failing to honour parliamentary invitations.

He added that questions for some ministers have remained on the Order Paper for an extended period, stressing that such matters must be dealt with before Parliament goes on recess.

The Minority Chief Whip highlighted the continued of Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, Minister of State in charge of Public Sector Reforms, and Eric Opoku, Minister for Food and Agriculture, noting that questions relating to their portfolios have been pending for a long time.

“These questions are question advertised in the name of the Minister in Charge of Public Sector Reforms. They have been on the Order Paper for a very long time,” he said.

“Minister for Agric just wrote to us that he cannot come. That’s fine. Eric has been a very beautiful person, I won’t begrudge him but his Deputy must be here,” he added.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh said the situation calls for decisive action from the President.

“The President must be watching. The first reshuffle must happen. Majority Leader, tell the President the Ministers who are not ready to do public business, the President must reshuffle them,” he said.

He added that if current ministers are unable or unwilling to appear before Parliament to account for their sectors, the President should replace them with officials who are prepared to serve and engage the House.
