Tamale Technical clash: We will stage a walk to demand police accountability- NPP Communicator

Communication Team Member for Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Emmanuel Senyo Amekplenu, has announced plans to request a protest walk to the Ministry of Education following the clash between students and the police at Tamale Technical University.

According to him, the officers involved in what he describes as unprofessional conduct should be held accountable.

Senyo Amekplenu said this while speaking on Joy Prime on 17th September, the day after the violent clash at the Tamale Technical University.

He called for accountability and criticized the police involved in manhandling some students, as well as management of the University for allowing such actions.

“What management has done by inviting the Ghana police to act in unprofessionalism, they will be brought to book,” he stated.

The NPP member added, “Come next week, central committee will be meeting and I will be making a proposal that we stage a walk to the Ministry of Education.”

Mr. Amekplenu was particularly critical of two police officers, saying they were “booting the gentlemen as if it is football.”

“We will stage a walk to the Ministry of Education and ensure that management and those two gentleman are brought to book,”he stressed.

Several students of Tamale Technical University sustained injuries during a violent clash with police on Tuesday, September 16.

The students were demonstrating against the university’s management, accusing them of financial mismanagement, neglect, misappropriation of funds, and unjustified increases in school fees.
