The Supreme Court dismissed the injunction of Vincent Assefuah, the Member of Parliament of Old Tafo to pause president John Dramani Mahama’s suspension of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, delivered a 3-2 majority decision to dismissed the injunction application aimed at halting proceedings on petitions for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
Justices Henrietta Mensa Bonsu and Ernest Gaewu ruled in favor of the plantiff to halt the proceedings on petitions for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo.
However, Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, Justice Yonny Kulendi and Justice Amadu Tanko ruled against the plantiff stating that the case should proceed without delay.
The Court has announced that its full reasoning behind the decision will be published on May 21, 2025.
President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo after setting up a committee to probe into allegations against her.
