The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Madina, Ibrahim Faila Fuseini, has ensured the demolition of over 100 structures at the Redco Flats enclave after authorities uncovered a hub of illegal activities operating there.
According to him, the residents of those structures were running brothels and selling illegal hard drugs out of some of these structures.
Redco flats was gutted by fire just around a month ago.
Speaking to Tv3 reporters at the site on Friday September 12, Ibrahim Faila Fuseini said the area increasingly gained notoriety as a slum settlement and encouraging illegal activities.
“Here has become like a slum and a place where brothels are being put up,“ he expressed.
Adding, “Moreover the drugs that they are selling here. We arrested some of them, they are with the police.”
The MCE disclosed that six suspects were apprehended in possession of quantities of illegal hard drugs during the operation.
He stressed that such acts would not be allowed to continue unchecked.
“We will not allow you to sit in Madina for these things to continue. Over 50 years of my life we aren’t seeing things like this so why do we have to accept it now,” he said.
