Ghanaian artist Sam Kwabena Safo Junior, popularly known as Showboy, has reportedly been picked up by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service while he was live streaming on TikTok.
Observers saw officers of the CID entering Showboy’s residence and try to take him away while he was live streaming on TikTok.
During the livestream on January 30, Showboy could be seen refusing to accompany the officers, insisting they leave his house.
In a heated argument, he accused the officers of violating his rights and demanded to see an arrest warrant.
The officers put Showboy in a pair of handcuffs, and repeatedly asked to not be out on camera before the stream eventually came to an end.
The reason for the arrest has not been officially confirmed. However, the incident is allegedly linked to an ongoing matter involving claims of blackmail against entrepreneur and music executive David Mensah, popularly known as Davido GH.
The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident or the allegations surrounding Showboy’s reported arrest.
