Sammy Gyamfi will not be sacked over cash gift to Nana Agradaa – Chief of Staff

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has formally cautioned Sammy Gyamfi, the acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board, following a controversial gift to Nana Agradaa that sparked public debate.

The decision that president John Dramani Mahama will not take any further action against Sammy Gyamfi beyond his apology was announced by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, during a press briefing on Wednesday.

He emphasized that while the Presidency acknowledges Gyamfi’s apology, no further disciplinary action will be taken beyond the caution.

“So in view of that, the Presidency does not believe that any further action ought to be taken beyond the apology and the caution,” Kwakye Ofosu stated.

The Minister reiterated the importance of public officials exercising discretion in their conduct, noting that while certain behaviors may be acceptable in private life, government appointees must uphold higher standards.

“We must be sensitive to what Ghanaians expect from us”.
