The head pastor of Anointed Grace Prayer Ministry at Kuffour Camp, Apostle Dr. Richmond Akwasi Frimpong, is in police custody for allegedly attempting to bury a five-month-old baby alive at Abofrem in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti Region.
The suspect and an accomplice were arrested by police in Bibiani following a tip-off from a vigilant community member.
An eyewitness, Winfred Agbah, recounted that at about 11 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, he spotted the pastor and his accomplice at a refuse dump carrying a baby under suspicious circumstances.
According to him, he intervened and discovered the child was still alive, prompting him to raise an alarm.“The baby was not dead; they intended to bury the child alive for reasons best known to them,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Chief Linguist of Abofrem, Nana Yaw Badu, revealed that the pastor had earlier informed him that the baby was dead and requested a burial site.
He noted that he had no knowledge the child was alive at the time.
Police in Bibiani have since detained the suspects as investigations continue. The baby has been rushed to the Abofrem Clinic, where it is currently receiving medical treatment.
