NPP to move forward with conference despite members concerns

The NPP leadership remains resolute in moving forward with the National Delegates Conference on July 19, 2025, despite internal voices advocating for a delay. After reviewing a petition seeking a date change to tackle pressing party matters, the National Executive Committee and National Council have opted to stick to the original plan, highlighting thorough preparations and existing commitments.

“The constitutional reforms are aimed at strengthening the party’s internal structures and preparing it for future electoral victories, particularly the 2028 general elections,” emphasized NPP Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, at a pre-event press conference.

Joseph Osei-Owusu, Chair of the Conference Planning Committee, reaffirmed the decision following the Council meeting, underscoring the significance of the conference. Major constitutional reforms, including proposals from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee report and a longstanding 2019 proposal, are slated for discussion.

Delegates will consider these proposed amendments, paving the way for the party to finalize reforms that could strengthen the party internally ahead of the 2028 elections.
