NDC propaganda accounts used to divert attention from failures -Bawumia’s Spokesperson

Deputy Spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Ekua Amoakoh has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of using propaganda accounts on social media to distract Ghanaians from what she described as the government’s growing failures.

Dr. Amoakoh said this while speaking about the recent prosecutions such as that of the former CEO of the National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), Hanan Abdul-Wahab, and his wife Faiza Seidu Wuni.

Speaking on Channel One TV on October 29, she claimed that these online accounts deliberately target individuals linked to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to shift public attention away from the government’s inability to deliver on its promises.

“You see another concerted effort on social media by accounts that are known to be propaganda pros of the NDC pushing, essentially seeking to muddy the personalities of these people,” she said.

According to her, the ruling party’s online behaviour represents a calculated strategy to tarnish the image of political opponents rather than focusing on governance.

“It has gone beyond prosecuting people in court to dirtying them in public and trying to create an impression that the previous government was engaged in all of this just so they can have some breathing room because they have failed woefully,” she added.

She argued that the NDC has failed to follow through on its flagship economic promise like the 24-hour economy, hence the need for them to shift focus unto other things.

“Where is this their 24-hour economy, one job three shifts? I don’t hear about it anymore,” she questioned.

“We were here when the unemployed nurses and teachers went on strike. We were here when the Labour Minister was making a point that he cannot employ those people. If you can’t employ 40,000 people, how can you have one job, three shifts?”

“Obviously it was a gimmick. So to move us away from those kinds of conversations, the next day they put somebody on a public show trial like this,” she added.

Dr. Amoakoh stressed that the NPP has no problem with accountability or legal processes but criticized the way public prosecutions are being politicized.

“The former President himself, His Excellency Nana Akufo-Addo, instructed all his appointees to stay in the country to face accountability. I am looking forward to the party clearing its name in regards to some of the accusations out there, but not in this manner.”oo
