The Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Naser Toure Mahama, popularly known as McNaza, has passed away.
Hon. Mahama, born on March 17, 1965, hailed from Nima in Accra, within the Greater Accra Region. His death has sent shockwaves through the political landscape, particularly among constituents, party faithful, and colleagues in Parliament who knew him as a dedicated legislator and seasoned businessman.
He received his secondary education at West Africa Senior High School before advancing to Central University College, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing in 1987. He furthered his academic journey by earning a Diploma in Governance from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)and later an MBA from Doshisha University in Japan.
A loyal member of the National Democratic Congress, Hon. Mahama entered parliamentary politics in 2012, successfully contesting the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat. He was sworn into office on January 7, 2013, and served the constituency continuously thereafter. In the 2024 general elections, he was re-elected with a decisive mandate, polling 22,139 votes (70.85%), defeating his closest contender who garnered 9,110 votes (29.15%).
Beyond his parliamentary duties, Hon. Mahama had a rich background in the private sector. He served as Managing Director of Aminasei Oil Company in Accra from 1993 to 2011 and was also associated with OTA Forex Bureaubetween 2001 and 2003, among other professional engagements.
Hon. Naser Toure Mahama was a devout Muslim, a family man, and widely respected for blending business acumen with legislative service in his representation of the people of Ayawaso East.
