National Council of Patrons visit and congratulate Dr. Bawumia on flagbearer nomination

The National Council of Patrons of the New Patriotic Party paid a courtesy call on the party’s newly elected flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, at his private residence in Accra.

The visit was to congratulate him on what the council described as his emphatic victory in the party’s recent presidential primaries.

According to the National Council of Patrons, “His overwhelming victory shows the confidence of the New Patriotic party in his leadership style”.

During the meeting which took place on Friday, February 13,, the council outlined its core mandate and pledged its readiness to support the flagbearer’s campaign efforts by mobilising critical resources for effective electioneering ahead of the 2028 general elections.

In their remarks, members of the council stressed the urgent need for a comprehensive reconciliation process within the party, beginning from the grassroots level through to the national level.

The leader of the delegation, the immediate past Chief of Staff, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei Opare, highlighted the importance of leveraging the experience within the council to strengthen the party’s preparations for 2028.

“Looking at the rich experience and diverse backgrounds of our members, all patrons stand in readiness to serve on any assigned committee to complement the experience of other party members towards winning election 2028.”

Dr. Bawumia also expressed appreciation to the council for the visit and their commitment to support his campaign activities.

He reaffirmed his dedication to promoting unity and cohesion within the party.

“Very soon, a reconciliation committee will be put in place to start the process towards ensuring a peaceful and united NPP, that is ready to resell power in 2028.”

He further acknowledged the depth of experience within the National Council of Patrons and indicated his willingness to tap into their expertise as the party prepares for the next general election.

The National Council of Patrons, made up of senior and long-serving party members, is chaired by former Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare.

Its membership includes figures such as Isaac Osei, Prof. Yaa Ntiamoah Baidoo, Dr. Charles Dwamena, Mr. Ken Amankwah, Edward Boateng, Dr. Anthony Nsia Asare and Dr. Thomas Agyekum Kyeremeh, among other party stalwarts.
