The father of the assaulted Obrachire Senior High Technical School (SHTS) student, Kobby Akpaka Fiadzigbe, says his son is psychologically and physically traumatised following the brutal attack during the Agona Swedru District Inter-Schools Athletics Games on February 19, 2026.
According to him, the experience is going to affect his son forever.
Speaking on Joy News as observed by NewsDesksGH on February 25, he recounted how he felt after watching the viral video of the assault.
“It was too terrible. I was shocked. Very terrible.“
He disclosed that his son sustained serious dental injuries and is currently undergoing medical examination.
“Currently my son, the teeth, the premolar is broken and the molar is in disorder. So currently he’s at Trauma hospital for a scan to see the status of the teeth.”
According to him, the impact goes beyond the physical injuries.
“Psychologically, physically, he’s traumatised.”
Mr. Fiadzigbe said he is currently focused on covering the cost of treatment and will seek mental care once his son stabilises.
“I’m taking care of the teeth, and when that one is somehow stabilised then I will look for psychologist. That one also involves money.”
He also expressed concern about the long-term consequences of the attack, however he expressed his intention to send his ward back to school once he recovers.
“Despite the incident, I cannot cut short his education. So for now he will go back to the school. Because it is not the same school who attacked him, it was a different school. I cannot trancate his education.”
A student from Obrachire Senior High Technical School was hospitalised after a brutal assault during the district sporting event, with a viral video showing him being attacked by a mob of students.
The Ghana Police Service has since arrested three students from Swedru School of Business (SWESBUS) in connection with the incident.
The suspects, Joseph Amoh (20 years old), Benedict Appiah (18 years old) and Bilal Mamud (18 years old), remain in police custody and are expected to be arraigned before court.
