My arrest will not stop me, I will still present my petition against Kissi Agyebeng – Martin Kpebu

My arrest will not stop me, I will still present my petition against Kissi Agyebeng - Martin Kpebu

Private legal practitioner Lawyer Martin Kpebu said he is still preparing his petition against the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and intends to complete it by next week.

According to him, his arrest and detention by the the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has not deterred him from pursuing petitions affecting the institution.

Martin Kpebu was arrested and detained yesterday, December 3, by the OSP but has since been released on bail.

He had reported to the office to assist with an investigation into allegations he made against the Special Prosecutor.

According to him, the arrest followed a verbal confrontation with a military officer at the OSP premises, during which words were exchanged.

Speaking to a Joy News presenter and monitored by NewsDesksGH on December 4, Martin Kpebu said he remains focused on completing the petitions.

“Definitely. You can know that I’m not one to run away from such a fight,” he said.

“What’s happening is that more citizens are giving us informations. Just this morning I got more citizens coming to give me more information,” he said.

He noted that the growing volume of new submissions is affecting the timeline for filing the petitions.

“Let’s give it a bit of time, it’s possible maybe another 1 week,” Mr. Kpebu explained.

“As I’m standing here I’m on charge number 15 against Kissi Agyebeng, but it’s morning people said ‘no Martin wait, we’ll get you more information. So when we’re done then we’ll see,” he added.

Narrating the events that led to his arrest, he said a heated exchange ensued when a soldier allegedly called him a “stupid man,” prompting him to repeat the insult back.

He added that after walking away, he approached a policewoman to lodge a complaint against the military officer but was arrested shortly after.

“What are soldiers even doing in the OSP?” he questioned.
