The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has released a documentary on the operations of NPP’s Chairman Wontumi’s Akonta Mining Company Ltd. in the Tano Nimri Forest Reserve.
The documentary which has since gone viral all over social media shows the company’s alleged devastation of both land and water bodies in the Western Region.
The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources after releasing the documentary has revoked the mining lease of Akonta Mining Company.
At a press briefing in Accra on April 21, 2025 the Minister revoked Akonta’s lease, ordered the interdiction of implicated forestry officials, and triggered investigations by the security agencies and the Attorney-General’s office.
