Ken Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution - Ofori-Atta’s Lawyer

Lawyer for former Finance Minister, Frank Davies, has dismissed suggestions that his client is afraid to face charges following revelations from the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) about the controversial Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML) contract.

According to him, his client, Ken Ofori-Atta is ready to face any legal process initiated against him.

His comments come after the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, announced that his office intends to prefer charges against Ofori-Atta and former Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) Commissioners by the end of November 2025.

Mr. Agyebeng told journalists at a press conference that the OSP had concluded investigations showing that Strategic Mobilisation Limited received over GH¢1.4 billion in public funds through what he described as a masterfully crafted scheme orchestrated from the highest levels of government, identifying Ofori-Atta as the chief patron and promoter.

Speaking on Joy FM on, October 30. Mr. Davies however criticised the OSP’s recent public comments, describing them as “amateurish and childish.”

“Look, nobody is afraid of prosecution. Ken Nana Yaw Kuntunkununku Ofori-Atta is not afraid of prosecution,” he said.

“Let the caps roll for the OSP. The accused person will have his day in court.”

Lawyer Davies urged the Special Prosecutor to focus on his office and stop what he described as theatrics.

“He should be more concerned about his office and what people are saying about his office,” he said.

When asked whether his client was in good health to stand trial if charges were brought forward, he blasted the presenter for the question.

“Why is that part of your business? Is that something of utmost concern to you?”

He continued, “If he’s charged he’ll come. He has not been charged yet, we’re told end of November so let’s all wait.”

He stressed, “I have told you that Ken Nana Yaw Kuntunkununku Ofori-Atta is not scared of prosecution. I told you, so why are you asking me this question?”
