Former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has backed former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s right to seek medical care abroad despite the invitation from the Office of the Special Prosecutor.
According to Martin Amidu, Ken Ofori-Atta should only face his accusers when he is medically fit because he has rights under the 1992 Constitution to seek for medical care in any country of his choosing.
The comment made by the former Attorney General and Minster of Justice under the late president Atta Mills comes after the International Criminal Police (Interpol) issued a Red Notice for the arrest of Ken Ofori-Atta.
“Ken Ofori-Atta has a constitutional right to seek the best medical treatment from any country of his choosing and only return to Ghana to face his accusers when he has been declared medically fit for investigations and prosecution,” Martin Amidu said as shared by TV3 on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Interpol issued the Red Notice for Ken Ofori-Atta on Thursday, June 5, 2025.
