IGP Yohuno celebrates Women’s Premier League title with Police Ladies

The Inspector General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno joined players of Police Ladies FC to celebrate the club’s first ever Women’s Premier League titles.

Police Ladies were crowned champions of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League on Saturday, May 17, 2025, after beating defending champions Ampem Darkoa 2-0 at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium.

Jane Ayieyam opened the scoring in the 27th minute, latching onto a beautiful team move and slotting home with the calmness of a seasoned forward. That goal sent their bench and fans into a frenzy—and planted seeds of doubt in the minds of the reigning queens, Ampem Darkoa, who were chasing a historic third straight league title.

The IGP who couldn’t hide his admiration for the successes of his team joined the players to celebrate the historical achievements on the pitch to celebrate after presenting the trophy to the team captain and also commended the players for making the Ghana Police Service proud.
