The Technical Advisor of the Black Stars, Winfried Schäfer has urged Ghanaians not to dwell too much on the team’s defeat to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Black Stars on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, lost 2-1 to the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the ongoing Unity Cup at the GTech Stadium in London.
Reacting to the defeat, Winfried Schäfer said it will not affect Ghana’s chances of qualifying to the 2026 FIFA World Cup by winning two of their remaining qualification games.
“If we win two games, we can go to the World Cup, I don’t know about Nigeria if they can qualify for the World Cup or not but I know we will go,” Winfried Schäfer said after the game.
He also commended the young players and the debutants for giving a good account of themselves despite losing the game.
The Super Eagles after beating the Black Stars will face off with Jamaica in the finals of the United Cup on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
