‘I believe it was contract killing’ - Kwaw Kesse recounts murder of former manager

Music artiste Kwaw Kese has recounted the murder of his former manager, Fennec Okyere, the Chief Executive Officer of Madtime Entertainment, who was killed in his home at Manet Gardens, Spintex, on March 13, 2014, by unknown assailants.

According to Kwaw Kesse, he believes the killing was a contract murder and not a robbery gone bad.

Speaking on Joy Prime’s Prime Time on February 18, as monitored by NewsDesksGh, the musician recounted the shocking events of the morning he received the news.

Kwaw Kese said he was in the shower when he received a distress call from Fennec Okyere’s house help.

He explained that the young man was crying and distraught on the phone, informing him that something had happened. He said he immediately rushed out of the shower and drove to the residence.

Upon arrival, he met several people gathered at the house. They later entered Fennec Okyere’s room where he saw his manager lying in a pool of blood.

“I had seen him the night before, we had discussed a lot of stuff. And the following morning…it was crazy. It’s unbelievable.”

He disclosed that they initially suspected a gunshot wound but it turned out to be a knife wound.

“Initially we all thought it was gunshot, but when the police took him to the police hospital and they did whatever there, it was a stab. Somebody had stabbed him in the heart all the way to the back.”

Dismissing suggestions that the attack was a robbery, he stated, “I don’t think it was a robbery. It wasn’t a robbery, I believe it was contract killing.”

Following the murder, Lawrence Nana Asiama Hanson, commonly known as Bulldog, was arrested in May 2014 as a prime suspect.

He was however later granted bail and eventually cleared due to a lack of evidence linking him to the crime.

More than a decade later, the killing of Fennec Okyere remains unsolved.
