Ghanaian actress and television personality, Nana Ama McBrown, has publicly confirmed that she is divorced and has no intention of getting married again.
According to her, she will consider having another child but she does not intend to enter another marriage.
Speaking on TV3 on December 17, as monitored by NewsDesksGH, the actress opened up about the end of her marriage to Maxwell Mawu Mensah and how she has come to terms with the decision.
“I’m happy where I am. I’ve gone through divorce and it has been a rollercoaster,” she said.
Confirming the divorce, Nana Ama McBrown added, “Yes I’m divorced. I am. And I’m not ashamed to say it.”
She explained that the separation was handled amicably and that she still maintains a healthy relationship with her former husband and his family.
“Me and my husband are cool. We spoke yesterday, we’ll speak today, we’ll speak tomorrow. We meet, I go to our house, my in laws and everything. I am a happy woman,” she said.
According to her, the decision to part ways was mutual and devoid of bitterness.
“We didn’t go through it like the bitter ones. I was tired, he was tired. We sat down and talked about it. Let’s move on,” she stated.
Nana Ama McBrown described her former husband as a good man and noted that their union produced something precious which was their daughter.
She, however, made it clear that while she is open to having another child, marriage is no longer on the table for her.
“I can give birth again but I won’t marry again,” she noted.
The actress further reflected on the challenges of maintaining a marriage in the public eye, especially within Ghana’s entertainment industry, revealing that she had been married for 12 years.
She urged the public to appreciate couples who are able to sustain their marriages despite public pressure.
“If you see someone on TV who is able to stay in a marriage, you need to clap for them.”
