High Court Grants Bail to NPP Communicator Abubakar Yakubu

The High Court (General Jurisdiction 2) has granted bail to the Sunyani East Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abubakar Yakubu, popularly known as Baba Amando, after he spent two weeks on remand by an Accra Circuit Court.

The court admitted him to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties and directed that he report to the police every two weeks as investigations continue.

Yakubu was arrested on Monday, April 13, 2026, as part of ongoing investigations into allegations of offensive conduct, false publication, and the circulation of statements deemed likely to incite fear and panic.

He had earlier been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court on April 14, a development that drew public attention as authorities intensified efforts to probe the alleged offences.

Although formal charges have not yet been filed, sources suggest the arrest may be linked to alleged threats directed at a judge at the Adentan Circuit Court, raising concerns within legal and governance circles.

He is also alleged to have shared derogatory images of the President and some members of the ruling government.

The case remains under investigation, with the bail conditions expected to ensure Yakubu’s availability as authorities work to establish the full facts.
