Dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has filed a GH₵100 million defamation lawsuit against media personality Abubakar Ahmed, widely known as Blakk Rasta, over what he describes as false and malicious allegations that have damaged his reputation.
According to court documents filed at the Accra High Court, the suit arises from a video published on Blakk Rasta’s Blakk Empire Media social media platforms on December 15, 2025, titled “SHATTA WALE, SELF-CONFESSED KING OF FRAUD.”

In the writ of summons filed on January 18, 2026, by Shatta Wale’s legal team, the Robert Smith Law Group, the musician contends that the video portrayed him as a fraudster who associates with criminals and allows stolen funds to pass through his bank accounts.
The statement of claim alleges that Blakk Rasta made a series of grave accusations in the video, including suggestions that Shatta Wale is linked to criminal syndicates recently arrested by security agencies.
According to the court filing, Blakk Rasta used the proverb “Aboki barawu shima barawu ne,” translated as “the friend of a thief is also a thief,” to imply that Shatta Wale’s associations make him complicit in criminal activity.
Shatta Wale’s lawyers insist that the allegations are entirely untrue and were deliberately calculated to harm his public image.
The statement of claim argues that the publication was false, malicious and intended to destroy his hard-earned reputation as a legitimate businessman and internationally recognised artist.
The suit further points to the wide circulation of the video as aggravating the alleged harm, noting that it attracted over 150,000 views on Facebook and more than 27,000 views on YouTube, along with thousands of comments and reactions.

According to the plaintiff, the continued availability of the video has reinforced negative perceptions about his character and integrity, with serious implications for his brand, business dealings and career.
As part of the reliefs being sought, Shatta Wale is asking the court to award GH₵100 million in damages for defamation. He is also demanding a full public retraction of the allegations, an unconditional apology, and the immediate removal of the video from all social media platforms.
