Sixty three Members of Parliament of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have officially declared their support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the party’s next presidential candidate.
According to them, they believe that former Vice President Dr. Bawumia embodies the next chapter of the NPP’s vision.
In a Statement of Support and Declaration for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia signed by Member of Parliament for Mampong, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, it states that they believe Dr. Bawumia embodies the next chapter of the NPP’s vision.
“In every generation, the New Patriotic Party has risen on the shoulders of visionaries such as Danquah, Busia and Dombo. Today, that proud tradition finds new strength and purpose in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He represents the enduring spirit of our Party; visionary, resilient, diligent and pragmatic.”
They highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s journey from the Bank of Ghana to the Vice Presidency, and praised his leadership is not about words but work, not about entitlement but excellence and delivery.
“He has walked with the NPP through every season of victory and challenge, serving faithfully, defending our record and carrying our message with conviction and grace,” the statement added, “He has been tested, trusted and proven.”
Declaring their collective stance, the MPs said, “Today, over sixty Members of Parliament of the New Patriotic Party stand together in unity and conviction to make this clarion call. We declare our total and unwavering support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the next flagbearer of our great Party.”
They stressed that their declaration was not made out of sentiment but from deep conviction.
“We affirm that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not just the candidate who can unite our Party, he is the leader who can win the confidence of the Ghanaian people and secure victory for the NPP in 2028 and beyond.”
The MPs further urged all party delegates to rally behind Dr. Bawumia as the next Presidential candidate for the NPP.
“Let us reward loyalty, humility and hard work with trust. Let us renew the NPP tradition with a leader who represents continuity with innovation. Let us choose the man who has walked the path, carried the burden and delivered results.”
The statement included the names of the 63 MPs, from constituencies across the Ahafo, Ashanti, Eastern, Western, Central, Northern, Bono, Bono East, North East, Savanna, and Greater Accra regions.
