Ghana lost over GH₵548 million through criminal enterprise operating at the National Service Authority – Attorney General Dr. Ayine

Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine has disclosed that Ghana has lost over GHC548 million due to a criminal syndicate operating within the National Service Authority, linked to ghost names on the payroll.

According to Dr. Dominic Ayine, these criminal syndicates inflated the figures of the personnel in order to defraud the state and loft monies into their pockets.

Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, June 13, 2025, Dr. Dominic Ayine gave a breakdown of the GH₵548 million that the Government of Ghana lost through the National Service Scandal.

“Ghana lost over GH₵548 million through criminal enterprise operating at the National Service Authority. In the 2022/2023 service year alone, GH₵350 million was stolen. Total amount stolen is GHS 548,333,542.”

Dr. Dominic Ayine also added that “I have received full dockets on the National Service scandal and the perpetrators will be charged in the coming days.”
