President John Dramani Mahama has announced that Ghana has secured additional visa waiver agreements with 11 countries to ease travel and strengthen people to people exchanges.
Speaking at the State of the Nation Address in Parliament on February 27, Mahama said the new arrangements would significantly reduce travel barriers for Ghanaian citizens.
“Ghana has also secured new visa waiver agreements with 11 countries to facilitate people to people exchange.”
He explained that under the agreements, Ghanaians would no longer require traditional visa processes to enter those countries.
“It means for those 11 countries, Ghanaians don’t need passports to go there. You’ll just jump on the plane and appear there, and they’ll allow you in.”
The move forms part of broader efforts to deepen diplomatic ties and promote economic, cultural and social cooperation between Ghana and its international partners.
This addition brings the total number of countries with new visa waiver agreements in the current Mahama administration to approximately 26.
