Forex bureaus should be changed into chop bars if it is a crime to possess dollars in Ghana – Malik Basintale

Deputy National Communications Director of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Malik Basintale has said that his boss Sammy Gyamfi committed no crime by giving out cash gift to Nana Agradaa.

Sammy Gyamfi has come under severe criticisms after a video of him handing over what appears to be dollar bills to Evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa appeared on the internet.

Reacting to the controversy, Malik Basintale who is currently serving as the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency said Sammy Gyamfi committed no crime and there is no evidence to prove that the money he gave Agradaa belonged to the State.

He also stated on TV3’s New Day show on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, that it is not against the law to keep dollar bills in your pocket because the law permits the establishment of Forex Bureau in the country.
