Focus on security, stop going after political opponents – Ntim Fordjour tells Mahama

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin North, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to prioritise restoring peace and security in the country instead of targeting opposition figures.

According to the Assin North MP, the deterioration of Ghana’s peace and security under President Mahama’s regime must rather be his concern, rather than going after political opponents.

In a series of posts on X on 9th September, Ntim Fordjuor argued that crime has risen sharply under President Mahama, noting that Ghana has slipped from being the 2nd most peaceful country in Africa and 38th globally in 2021 to 7th in Africa and 61st worldwide in 2025.

He also cited the escalation of the Bawku conflict, Gbinyiri violent clashes resulting in over 31 dead, rising tensions in Nkwanta, mysterious killings, deadly festival clashes and Ablekuma North election violence.

The Assin North MP also accused the government of selective justice, arguing that other individuals who committed offences had not been treated as harshly as Abronye DC.

“They must remember POWER CHANGES hands and no regime is permanent,” cautioned Ntim Fordjuor.
